Turner Construction has embarked on the first stage of the extensive One Beverly Hills project, a 17.5-acre $5B development positioned just outside Los Angeles. Master planning for the project has been carried out by architecture and engineering firm Foster + Partners. The site is one of the largest privately funded real estate development projects underway in the US. This project promises to reshape the area with its focus on sustainability and luxury.
The initial phase involves substantial site preparation, which includes installing utilities, building roadways, and creating a foundational landscape to support the vast complex. The site plan reveals an impressive lineup of features, including two Aman-branded residential buildings, an Aman hotel, and a range of high-end amenities. Additionally, the development will boast expansive green spaces and gardens designed to complement the structures.
Sustainability is a key focus for One Beverly Hills. The project will incorporate advanced energy systems to minimize environmental impact. Designed by Tetra Tech, plans include the use of reclaimed water for landscaping and a robust energy management system designed to enhance efficiency. The goal is to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification, WELL Building Standard (WELL) certification, and Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions certification, underscoring a commitment to environmental stewardship.
Prominent in Turner’s approach is the integration of technology to streamline construction processes. The use of advanced building information modeling (BIM) will facilitate coordination among various teams, ensuring precision and efficiency throughout the construction lifecycle.
“We are thrilled to work on this iconic project,” said Reed McMains, vice president and general manager at Turner. “One Beverly Hills will usher in the next exciting chapter in Beverly Hills’ remarkable history.”
Once completed, One Beverly Hills aims to revitalize the area, offering a blend of luxury living and hospitality. This ambitious project not only promises to transform the landscape but also sets a new standard for environmentally conscious development in the region.
The larger vision for One Beverly Hills includes connecting the development to its surroundings, creating a seamless transition between urban living and natural beauty. Emphasis on open spaces and pedestrian-friendly areas is intended to nurture a sense of community and enhance quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
As construction progresses, Turner’s efforts will be closely monitored, ensuring adherence to timelines and environmental standards. This initiative represents another example of how modern construction practices are adapting to meet growing demands for eco-friendly and innovative solutions in urban development.
The project is expected to create more than 2,500 construction jobs and be completed in 2027.
