    On June 5, 2025, the full commissioning of the Provence Grand Large project was announced. The Mediterranean’s first floating offshore wind farm is situated 17 kilometers off the coast of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. This pioneering venture aims to harness renewable energy efficiently while addressing various environmental challenges.

    Developed by EDF Renewables, Provence Grand Large utilizes advanced floating wind technology to capitalize on the region’s maritime winds. This innovation enables the installation of turbines in deeper waters, beyond the limits of traditional fixed-bottom structures. The wind farm comprises three 8.4 MW floating wind turbines, each mounted on a semi-submersible platform, anchored to the seabed with cutting-edge technology. These platforms offer greater stability and adaptability to changing sea conditions.
