Envision has successfully commissioned the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia plant, a significant milestone in renewable energy development. This facility is powered by the largest off-grid renewable energy system that combines solar and wind energy sources and is also the first of its kind to be fully AI-enabled. The Chifeng Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Plant, situated in the Chifeng Net Zero Industrial Park, exemplifies a step forward in sustainable energy solutions.

The facility is now delivering 320,000 tons of green ammonia annually and is projected to produce 1.5 million tons of green ammonia per year by 2028. This endeavor is poised to make a substantial impact on reducing carbon emissions, supporting the global transition to cleaner energy.

One of the standout elements of this project is its AI-integrated off-grid energy system. By harnessing both solar and wind energy, using grid-forming battery storage and predictive meteorological modeling, the plant operates independently from the main power grid, exemplifying a model of self-sufficiency. Envision’s ability to combine these resources illustrates a new direction in energy production, where reliance on fossil fuels is reduced.

Innovative energy storage and load flexibility has been applied to this project. Surplus green power is converted to liquid nitrogen, which is stored within a dynamic air-separation unit. Electrolyzers respond to renewable power swings, dynamically optimizing energy absorption and ammonia production. Envision has created a path to scaling hydrogen across heavy industries by leveraging green ammonia as a stable transport and storage medium.

“This is more than a technological milestone. Scalable, green alternatives are now real and operational. We can’t get to net zero without green hydrogen, and we can’t afford to wait. This is the blueprint for a clean energy future.”

Lei Zhang, Founder and CEO, Envision

The project not only contributes to environmental improvement but also bolsters economic prospects by creating numerous jobs in the region. Additionally, the plant supports energy security by reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels. This aligns with global efforts to increase investment in green technology and infrastructure.

Envision’s commitment to sustainability is evident in this venture, which is expected to set new industry standards. By utilizing state-of-the-art technology and innovative engineering, the plant ensures efficient production while maintaining environmental integrity. The project also features an advanced digital management system, enabling precise control over energy outputs and resource allocation.

These advancements reflect a broader trend within the construction and engineering sectors towards sustainable development and resource optimization. The successful commissioning of such projects demonstrates the potential for large-scale renewable energy solutions.

The collaboration between Envision and local stakeholders plays a crucial role in the realization of this project, showcasing the importance of partnerships in achieving ambitious sustainability goals. This collaborative approach facilitates knowledge exchange and resource sharing, essential factors in overcoming challenges associated with large-scale projects.

Overall, this green hydrogen and ammonia plant represents a significant achievement in renewable energy, paving the way for future developments in sustainable energy infrastructure and highlighting the crucial role of engineering innovation in addressing climate change.
